Three weeks ago, I went to Port Fairy with my wife and the dog. We did pretty well, and came home with a lot of bluefin tuna for the freezer.
On 29 June, I went back to Port Fairy with my mate Todd Makin, for three days. The ocean was really rough, and last two days were really windy. The swell was about 5 metres, and the chop was horrible. We couldn’t fish much those days, as it was a bit dangerous.
But the first day made up for it. We bagged out on the bluefin tuna within half an hour of being on the water, so we brought our 4 fish home. But we went on to catch and tag another 20 fish!
It was a trip of firsts for Todd – his first tuna, his first 3-way hook up, his first tagged fish, and the first time he’s filleted tuna.
